【摘要】:Ethers,alcohols,andotheroxygenatescanbeaddedtogasolinetoincreaseoctanenumberandtoreduceemissions.Typeandconcentrationofvariousoxygenatesarespecifiedandregulatedtoensureacceptablecommercialgasolinequality.Drivability,vaporpressure,phaseseparation,exhaust,andevaporativeemissionsaresomeoftheconcernsassociatedwithoxygenatedfuels.Thistestmethodisapplicabletobothqualitycontrolintheproductionofgasolineandforthedeterminationofdeliberateorextraneousoxygenateadditionsorcontamination.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofethersandalcoholsingasolinesbygaschromatography.Specificcompoundsdeterminedaremethyltert-butylether(MTBE),ethyltert-butylether(ETBE),tert-amylmethylether(TAME),diisopropylether(DIPE),methanol,ethanol,isopropanol,n-propanol,isobutanol,tert-butanol,sec-butanol,n-butanol,andtert-pentanol(tert-amylalcohol).1.2Individualethersaredeterminedfrom0.20to20.0mass%.Individualalcoholsaredeterminedfrom0.20to12.0mass%.Equationsusedtoconverttomass%oxygenandtovolume%ofindividualcompoundsareprovided.Atconcentrations0.20mass%,itispossiblethathydrocarbonsmayinterferewithseveralethersandalcohols.Thereportinglimitof0.20mass%wastestedforgasolinescontainingamaximumof10volume%olefins.Itmaybepossiblethatforgasolinescontaining>10volume%olefins,theinterferencemaybe>0.20mass%.givesachromatogramshowingtheinterferenceobservedwithagasolinecontaining10volume%olefins.1.3Alcohol-basedfuels,suchasM-85andE-85,MTBEproduct,ethanolproduct,anddenaturedalcohol,arespecificallyexcludedfromthistestmethod.ThemethanolcontentofM-85fuelisconsideredbeyondtheoperatingrangeofthesystem.1.4Benzene,whiledetected,cannotbequantifiedusingthistestmethodandmustbeanalyzedbyalternatemethodology(seeTestMethodD3606).1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Alternateunits,incommonusage,arealsoprovidedtoincreaseclarityandaidtheusersofthistestmethod.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
